Welcome! I’m Kate (Kathryn Elizabeth) Johnson- a professional counselor turned artist in the metro Atlanta area. I first learned to draw and paint with my grandmother, an artist, when my family visited during childhood summers. I have always had a desire to communicate the unseen while highlighting the beauty of the world around me. With the support of my grandparents, I went on to get my undergraduate degree in Art, with a focus in drawing and painting. I loved my training and found that something powerful happened in the studio as students gathered to create. I immediately knew I wanted to work with both people and art.

I later earned a master’s in professional counseling and worked for several years as a licensed professional counselor. My work now is a combination of those two fields- a tangible expression of an internal experience. You’ll find my work expressive, intuitive, and emotionally evocative, with a focus on texture, light, and color. Painting is a spiritual experience for me- an act of surrender as I trust the process, see beyond what’s right in front of me, and allow myself to explore the depths.
